A Time to Honor
Zach Nankivel
Today is Veteran’s Day. I want to thank all those who have served their country and continue to serve. My brother Zach is currently serving in the Navy’s Mobile Security Forces.
My father sent me to basic training when I was young. But I remember missing him and knowing that he was doing something very significant. I now understand why he did it for us and his country.
I was able to go to Chicago to witness Zach’s graduation from basic training earlier in the year. The moment when the speaker asked the crowd to stand was my favorite part of the ceremony.
If you were a member of the United States Army, please stand. ?
If you were a member of the Army National Guard. ?
?If you were a member of the United States Air Force?

If you were a member of the United States Coast Guard. ?
?If you were a Marine Corps veteran. ?
?If you were a member of the United States Navy. ?
Please stand up for all those who have served their country in any branch of military service. ?
It was amazing to see the number of people who served this country. It was hard for me to stop crying when my father stood up with the rest. The pride and gratitude were overwhelming. That is how I felt on Veteran’s Day.
We are grateful to Zach and dad and all those who have served or are currently serving.
I look forward to seeing Zach sometime in the spring. Take care and be safe.
